Best time to paint
For best results, paint when the temperature is between 50 and 90 degrees. With an oil based paint, pick a warm day without much humidity to cut down on drying time between coats. Latex dried in a few hours in any weather.
Spring and fall are the best seasons for painting.
Don’t be an early bird when painting. Make sure there is no moisture on the house before starting. Let all the morning dew evaporate off of the house. If working late in the day give yourself enough time to stop before dampness sets it.
To prevent a sunstroke for youself and a paint problem for you house, avoid working in direct sunlight. Do you hour homes westside in the morning and the Eastside in the afternoon. Paint the south side when it’s most shaded.
When painying, try to time your breaks to occur where siding and trim meet or at some other visual transition point. This prevents lap marks and disguises subtle color differences that may occur when you start again.
